My Best Crazy-Cheap Flights of 2017

Ok back to cheap flights. In 2017 I booked the following flights without miles or any special complicated tricks. My goal in this post it to get you motivated about the possibilities of some affordable explorations!

In the next post in this series I’ll show you the very easy way I found these tickets.

  • $165 roundtrip to fly from San Francisco to Stockholm on WOW Airlines, the Iceland-based budget carrier. My exact itinerary was Oakland to LAX ($5 and 2,000 Southwest points), where I stopped off for a night and visited a friend. Then the next day went onward LAX-Stockholm and back Stockholm-SFO.

A crazy cheap ticket to cross an ocean. I had a great time in Stockholm even though it was a bit cold!

  • $255 roundtrip total on LEVEL (a new carrier operated by Iberia) for my girlfriend and me to fly non-stop Oakland to Barcelona in June 2017! This was one of the best deals I’ve managed to find as it was peak season to Europe and non-stop. On top of that, the flight times were great, leaving on a Friday evening and returning on a Sunday afternoon.

  • $88 roundtrip on Spirit Airlines, from Detroit to Oakland. This flight was cheap enough to get my brother--who hates to fly--onto an airplane to come visit me in San Francisco!

Usually this ticket is closer to $350 or more!
